Websites and platforms
Web platforms built on solid data.
I build custom websites, platforms and plugins for companies, institutions and research projects, starting from the data model, so the site doesn’t become a bottleneck as content and users grow.
When you need it
Does any of this sound familiar?
Your site is slow, hard to update and every change needs a developer.
Catalogues, products or records have to be updated by hand across several systems.
An archive or data collection deserves to be searchable online, by the public too.
A research project or grant requires a platform to collect and share data.
What I do
From corporate website to custom platform.
- Custom WordPress sites: block themes (Full Site Editing), dedicated plugins, multilingual with Polylang, technical SEO.
- Web platforms and applications: Django, Python and Node.js, with MongoDB or PostgreSQL databases and documented APIs.
- Integrations and automations: syncing catalogues, ERPs and e-commerce (WooCommerce), imports from Excel and CSV.
- Platforms for research and cultural heritage: digital archives, maps and georeferenced data, 3D models, access for scholars and the public.
- Maintenance and migration: updates, security, performance, moving from page builders like Elementor to the block editor.
I use open-source technologies and hand over code and documentation: the project stays yours, even if someone else takes it over one day.
How I work
A four-step method.
01
Analysis
Goals, content, data and users: what the platform must do and for whom.
02
Prototype
Data model and first screens, validated before building everything.
03
Development
Phased releases, with a staging environment where you see progress.
04
Launch
Go-live, training for content editors, maintenance.
Case studies
Some platforms I have built.
OOLP
A WordPress plugin that syncs a bookshop catalogue from Excel to WooCommerce, with no manual updates.
Immensa Aequora
An open-source web application to reorganise and share the data of the Ischia Santa Restituta excavation, with the University of Milan.
Carthusian monasteries in Piedmont
A digital archive of the Carthusian monastic landscape, with historical documents, maps and 3D models of the buildings.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Do you only work with WordPress?
No. WordPress is ideal for sites and content; for applications with complex logic I use frameworks like Django, always with open-source technologies.
Can you rebuild an existing site without losing rankings?
Yes: URL mapping, 301 redirects, carefully migrated metadata and content, and Search Console checks after launch.
Who updates the content after delivery?
Your team: I set up a simple editor and run a training session. If needed, I also offer ongoing maintenance.
Can it be funded with a public grant?
In Piedmont, a website on its own doesn’t qualify for the Digitalisation Voucher, and e-commerce counts only when linked to other technologies such as CRM, big data or AI. A platform that integrates them can qualify.
Planning a platform or a website rebuild?
Tell me about the project: I will reply with a first assessment and the steps to estimate time and costs.
