I help SMEs, public bodies, universities and startups turn complex data into systems that actually work: well-designed databases, integrations that last, AI tools that solve a specific problem.
I bring to every project the same method I use in research: first I understand the problem and look at the data, then I choose the technology. If a solution won’t hold up, I’ll tell you before I sell it to you.
My path
From research to projects for companies.
I graduated in Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, where I later earned a PhD in Computer and Systems Engineering, including a research period at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken. The common thread has always been the same: analysing and integrating complex data, from biomedical research to documents.
After my PhD I designed and built the information system for preclinical research at the Candiolo Cancer Institute, later adopted by other research centres, and took part in the Cloud Biobanking project by Dedagroup and Aldebra, with the Universities of Trento and Turin, to make data exchange in translational medical research more efficient.
With some friends I co-founded the startup deedfactory, which built a cashback platform for non-profits and camerarace.com, a camera comparison site: that is where I learned to grow an online product, from WordPress to SEO. In 2011 I won the Working Capital award in the ICT category with the Riassunti Web project.
Today
I teach Advanced Data Modeling and Management at Politecnico di Torino, and through Flowygo I work with SMEs, institutions and startups: data and AI audits, design and migration of databases such as MongoDB, Neo4j and Elasticsearch, custom web platforms and training for in-house teams. Recent projects include the artefact catalogue of the Museum of Oriental Art in Turin and CivicArc, the digital atlas of Italian town halls: you can find them all on the Projects page.
How I work
- I start from the problem, not the technology. First we work out what needs to improve, then we choose the tool.
- I document every decision, so whoever continues the work, even without me, has everything they need.
- I transfer skills: the goal is for your team to become autonomous, not dependent on me.
- I tell you when something isn’t needed. Sometimes the right answer is to make better use of the tools you already have.

I have authored more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences, including Nature Communications, Information Sciences and Database, as well as the book Trends and Applications of Text Summarization Techniques (IGI Global). The full list is on Google Scholar.
