Finding Venice’s lost medieval church furnishings on a map

As part of the PNRR CHANGES project at Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, I built a database linked to an interactive map of the city, based on a historical view of Venice. The goal: geolocate records of medieval church furnishings, many of which are now lost or decontextualized, scattered across museums, private collections, or simply gone.

The result lets scholars and curious visitors alike explore medieval Venice as it was, reconnecting each catalogued piece of furnishing to its place of origin on the historical map, even when that place, or the piece itself, no longer exists in its original form.
