Finding the right camera, with an algorithm’s help
Camerarace is a camera comparison tool, developed together with Deedfactory s.r.l., designed to help users buy the product best suited to their needs. The platform doesn’t just compare technical specifications across models: an AI algorithm weighs each camera’s characteristics based on the intended use, returning a score that objectively points to the best choice.
Beyond direct comparison, the site also suggests alternative models to the ones a user is viewing, surfacing cameras they might not have known about. Everything is connected to Amazon to show the best currently available price in real time — through a Python library for Amazon’s API built specifically for this purpose.
My contribution was the entire platform: from data acquisition and modeling to the algorithm underlying the model comparisons. The site is visited daily by thousands of users looking for their next camera.
