Android Earthquake Alerts (AEA): Your Smartphone Detects Earthquakes
Google’s Android Earthquake Alerts (AEA) turns millions of smartphones into earthquake sensors. Available in more than 100 countries, including Italy, the system uses accelerometers to detect tremors and a neural network to provide real-time alerts. For mild tremors, you receive a notification; for strong ones, the phone beeps and displays safety instructions. Alerts are also visible on smartwatches.
